JESUS Christ had explained in previous verses "the right for one to defend oneself" and the Heavenly Creator Father Spirit JESUS Christ Lifts His Worthy (http://0www.20m.com/index.html) and in this John 8:16 JESUS fits together these Rights [for the Right to tell the truth]. JESUS Christ's "truth" is the "real, genuine" article of Fact. Also in the negative meaning: No use denying it.

John 8:16 English Standard Version "Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me". The negative words "not" and "but" cancel each other.

John 8:16 Formula: "Yet even if I do judge," = "my judgment is true," x "for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me".

"A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. So there is the Right to Defend Oneself, though "Only on the evidence of two witnesses"..."shall" there be "a charge".
